Another Day, Another Interview

This one, over at the SFX blog, is short and sweet, answering some good questions from Tom Hunter on Fairyland, eBooks and more.  Completely forgot to mention that I have a self-published eBook out, the novelete City of the Dead. Or that I'm planning to republish my short story collection, Little Machines (originally a limited edition hardback from PS Publishing), some time in summer.  So now I've mentioned them here.

I particularly like the idea you mention of a hardback of a novel coming with a softcopy (eBook) as a bonus for buying a well-bound (sewn through-the-fold & foil-printed spine please!) copy of the book.

It isn't unusual for me to wait until I can buy a paperback of a book, just so it's easier to carry around and read. With your solution, it would be possible to carry around on my phone / Kindle and still keep a good-looking copy on the shelf. However, I might be somewhere near the narrow end of the long tail.

Funnily enough, I actually read Little Machines as an eBook. My girlfriend was sent a softcopy for review. I've always wanted a printed version, but never found one that I could afford at the time.

Started re-reading the ebook of 'Fairyland' today, and was instantly struck by how you never can tell how things are going to go. The reference to French as the lingua franca of Europe made me pause. My wife has frequent dealings with the EU funding bodies for Arts academics, and she has certainly noted that English seems to be the lingua franca in this area (and it is not just Europeans being nice to we poor ill-educated and lazy Brits). Far from jarring, these little 'divergences' from what has come to pass are a delight.
'Fairyland' is still one of my favourite works of yours, Paul, and re-reading it in this new format is as fun as ever.
